Do The Work — An Introduction

The Introduction To A Phrase That Has Guided My Journey To Maturity

ARE YOU HEALED OR JUST DISTRACTED?

— A random quote from Instagram.

It is so easy for life to become distracting before one even has time to Do The Work. I have become sure that most of us are functioning-addicts, our core needs being disguised by consumerism, hyper-productivity/production, and the hustle and bustle.

Only courageous souls DO THE WORK.

A JOURNEY OF SELF—AWARENESS

I’ve always had the gift of heightened self-awareness, always deep in my thoughts. It took a few years of sweating blood, seeking affirmation from a company that didn’t care for me, anxiety attacks and medication to finally decide to throw myself into doing the real work — working on the Eden I present to the world —

Hi, I’m Eden, I’m a recovering performance addict. In the past, my need to be seen/perfect, and over-perform has led me to anxiety medication and burnout.

I’ve come to realize that it’s so easy for life to pass by without us giving much depth of thought to our inner life or to what our real passions and feelings are. Capitalist, Luigi Zingales, calls this a state of inertia — floating through life. However, over the last few months, many of us have been exposed.

HOW TO DO THE WORK

Maybe you’ve just read the above and are feeling overwhelmed. Well, doing the work is at its base-level, making an effort. Giving it thought. Little by little investing in all of the parts of you…

  1. Mind
  2. Soul
  3. Spirit
  4. Body

For me, this is what self-care really is.

MOVING FORWARD

I’m going to be writing and exploring all of the above, sharing how I have done the work, the results, and giving suggestions on how you can do the same all on this blog. It is the core of what TRAVEL LIGHT is about — giving you a place to learn how to navigate through life lightly. Without baggage – emotionally, mentally, physically, and more… A new perspective.

I hope that you’ll follow along for the journey and DO THE WORK.

All of my love,

Eden

Hi Friend,

I genuinely hope that this message not only finds you well, but full of hope and expectancy.

For a long while now – a few years – I’ve had it heavy on my heart to start something. Something authentic, something with depth, something that offered a holistic approach to health and wellness to the non-white (BIPOC) female, and I’m finally doing it. This is it.

It’s a online platform of curated content largely speaking into the following:

  • Travel
  • Wellness
  • Culture

Its name is TRAVEL LIGHT.

A place where people learn how to navigate through life “lightly.” Without baggage – emotionally, mentally, physically, and more… A new perspective.

Now, obviously, any woman is welcome to come onto the site in an effort to find a way to navigate through certain issues she may have in her life, but, anything we share will be from non-white professionals and from a non-white cultural view point…

… Because it’s important,

Love

Eden Myrrh
