Work From Home… In Athleisure?

We’ve all gone through weird phases in life. I went through the adult acne phase, the braces, bushy hair, bad body odor, and even the ‘I-think-I-look-weird-in-skinny-jeans-phase.’ Seriously, I refused to wear skinny jeans for about 2-years after they rose to popularity because I didn’t want to see my ‘knocking knees’ exposed. Crazy, haha. Eventually, a best friend of mine bought me a pair and I was hooked (who doesn’t like a pair of sexy booty hugging jeans every once in a while? *covers face*).

I remember, when I started exercising and doing the bodywork, I had no athleisure (read: exercise clothes, in layman’s terms) whatsoever. No running shoes, no running shirts, nothing.

I was so scared that exercise was going to be yet another phase of mine. One that I threw everything into at first, and then just as quickly, divorced. That’s my personality — I tend to throw everything I have into my latest passion… almost to the point of obsession… I decided that waiting a while before making the athleisure investment would be the wisest option.

It turned out that the ‘newfound obsession’ wasn’t a phase, much to the shock and horror of my family, and I stuck to my exercise guns for the first time in what seemed like forever (11 years is someone’s forever)… I started building up my athleisure in the wardrobe compartment.

BRANDED BABE

It’s been a year since my first athleisure engagement, and I’m pretty chuffed to say I’ve tried it all (Nike, Adidas, New Balance, Reebok, etc.). I’m definitely a PUMA girl in the running gear department, but, I was very excited when Cotton On South Africa approached me to try and share some of their Cotton On Body Athleisure range.

I generally enjoy Cotton On‘s lingerie, underwear and sleep ware and was excited to see how their athleisure would fare — especially for those #WFH (work-from-home) days during the pandemic (yes, there’s a global pandemic going on), yoga or pilates, a chilled-hike, ‘running’ to the shops and whatever else one wears activewear for these days… um, the market? Orrrrrrr, if you’re like me and are obsessed with the beach — a winter sun rendezvous when you need a break from Working From Home…

Here are few pictures of the Cotton On ribbed set that I fell in-love with on their website first!

Hi Friend,

I genuinely hope that this message not only finds you well, but full of hope and expectancy.

For a long while now – a few years – I’ve had it heavy on my heart to start something. Something authentic, something with depth, something that offered a holistic approach to health and wellness to the non-white (BIPOC) female, and I’m finally doing it. This is it.

It’s a online platform of curated content largely speaking into the following:

  • Travel
  • Wellness
  • Culture

Its name is TRAVEL LIGHT.

A place where people learn how to navigate through life “lightly.” Without baggage – emotionally, mentally, physically, and more… A new perspective.

Now, obviously, any woman is welcome to come onto the site in an effort to find a way to navigate through certain issues she may have in her life, but, anything we share will be from non-white professionals and from a non-white cultural view point…

… Because it’s important,

Love
